Emir: 17 month

It is the month of Ramadan and I have a lot to be thankful for. Emir is getting bigger and heavier. He now can express emotions better, make choices, differentiate what he wants and what he does not want. For somebody who is 17 month, he is quite bossy. Give the name "Emir" what do you expect.

I like it when he wakes up in the morning. I know he wakes up early (earlier than his parents) but when he sees his parents still sleeping, he will continue to sleep. But when he is decides to wake up, he'll have this big smile for us almost like telling us 'GOOD MORNING PARENTS, WHAT A GOOD DAY TODAY" 'I AM HAPPY THAT YOU ARE HERE WITH ME IN BED".

He has more words in his vocabulary and mimics whatever we do or say. Sometimes he talks in a language he himself only knows and he is quite expressive. That is why we are extra careful of what we do and say in front of him. In fact, Anor and I even need to spell some of the word so that he won't know what we are talking about.
He can vacum, climb on chairs, run continuously and then when he decides that he is tired, he will come up to me and ask"embak" (carry me). He enjoys his "Vitagen" and cookies. Those are a few of the words he can say....vitagen and cookie....Heis my cookie monster...His apetite remains the same...voracius as ever.....(maybe it is genetics)...He also will stop playing if he hears the theme song from "The Nanny", TV3 theme song and "Crazy About a boy" by Dinah Washington. We have conluded that Emir is an old soul.....He likes oldies rather than contemporary......
My son does not like reptiles naturally, he does not like lizards frogs dinosaurs for some reason. He likes kids and babies and rubber duckies (in fact he has 4 rubber duckies joining him every time i give him a bath).
Discipline -wise, I guess he is like any othe 17 month boys. We try to instill discipline without being dictatorial, we try reasoning, persuasion and only raise our voices if he is really, really, really naughty, we are giving him "time outs"..but usually after a couple of minutes i'll give a big daddy hug and he will smile again....hahahhaha...can't be angry too long, he's my son
In 1 or 2 month he will be transferred to the toddler's section at his nursery. He'll hang with the big kids then. Maybe cousin Shaerman will be around too.

Proud of MyCupcakes

A good friend of Anor and I introduced a potential client to MyCupcakes. The client named R wanted to ask whether MyCupcakes could make 200 cuppies as door gifts to a wedding reception.....in BINTULU. This the largest order ever for MyCupcakes....a real test to see of MyCupcakes is up to the challenges.

1st challenge: The number of cupcakes to be baked
2nd challenge: How to store them,
3rd challenge: Decorating them

Alhamdulillah, MyCupcakes was able to complete all the challenge superbly. Kudos and congrats to MyCupcakes....(all the late nights sacrificed...hmmmmm)...kesiaannn..my sayang........but it is all worth it if you can view the pics below.

These are all the pictures from that single order.

If you want to see more cuppies please visit my wife's blog address.

Marvellous Cupcakes

I had a "Marvel"lous idea when I saw cupcakes of SpiderMan, I asked myself Why have no one done other Marvel lovable classic characters such as the Invincible Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and X-Men such as Wolverine and Cyclops. These cupcakes are dedicated to the parents who enjoyed these classical comic book characters before they were made into big budget hollywood movies....and before Ben 10...hahahahha......

I know they may not look exactly like the comic book charactes if compared to using the edible images (and I'm not against edible images...) but because they were hand designed, makes each and every one of them one of a kind, prepared exclusively for YOU...remember, a lot of love and thought went into making those cupcakes.......

For all of you hardcore Marvel fans specifically, and cupcakes lovers generally, Please enjoy .......

New Honda City

Picture courtesy of Paul Tan's Blog (paultan.org)

I never thought of buying another car after i finished paying off my current car.. The thought of paying another 84 monthly installments or 7 years fill me with dread..especially when considering owning my own home:) but when test driving the new 2009 honda city, i had my doubts:) i'm not much of a honda fan. .but the new city is something i wouldn't mind owning...one can always dream...

It started when my wife wanted to service her car...but the service station was closed...so there was a Honda showroom adjacent to the service centre. We decided to drop in and have a look at the new Honda City.

The sales persom didn't waste anytime inviting us to test drive the car...He seemed confident that the experience will entice anyone into buying the car. So its me driving, the sales person in front, my wife and baby, and my brother in law and sister in law in the back seat (5 plus baby).

I won't babble all the features and technical stuff, you can get it from all the blogs out there, but I just want to share I felt.....It felt good.....real good....so good that my wife and I have second thoughts not purchasing a new car....hahahahahaa......but nevertheless reality sinks in....maybe we'll have to wait a couple of more years...

Kuching’s Famous Rojak India (Rojak Kuchei)?

Rojak Kuchei

If you are a Kuchingite or Kuchingian..any which way you want to call it….you’ll definitely know what I am talking about when I say Rojak Kuchei (Rojak India). If you are wondering what is a Kuchei…Kuchei is the name of the owner of the business….He has been serving Rojak India for a long time…Generations of Kuchingian or Kuchingite had been coming to the place to get their fill of Rojak India.... Rojak Kuchei is a brand name by itself….a food institution…one of Kuching well known original attraction?.. Maybe he should’ve patented the name. Otherwise it would become like Satay “Ceko” where everyone claims that they are the original Satay “Ceko”… Satay “Ceko” is a different story altogether..hehehhe

If you want to eat Rojak India for breakfast, everyone will definitely think of Rojak Kuchei, The shop is located at Jalan Batu Lintang opposite the JKR Kuching Divisional Office (Lati: 1°32'5.78"N & Long:110°20'29.68"E).... You have to come very early in the morning and book your seats. You’ll see many people enjoying their rojak and the stream of people do not end. Business is so good that it’ll be finish by noon time. The fried chicken, beansprouts, vegerable fritters, tofu all covered by a thick, savoury, and delicious gravy that harmonizes all the ingredients to make the perfect rojak india...hmmmmmmm....

The one I went to is operated by his son and located at King’s Centre. Some say It is as good as the father's shop, but some say the original is much better. It's up to you to decide..I guess its just a matter of taste. Who knows the new place will start its own legacy and another generations of followers.....
Enjoy............

Wantan noodles..anyone??

The bowl is half empty coz cannot tahan already....ate half then took picture

If ever you want to eat halal delicious wantan soup with noodle.. Come to Cafe 75 located at Jalan Hj Taha.. (for those who have Google Earths & Map these are the coordinates,

Lat: 1°33'22.60"N and Long: 110°20'19.34"E)...to those Kuchingites that don't have access to internet..hmmm..., its one of the shop houses near Swee Kang's house....(maybe i'll blog about that next......).. :)

It is one of my favorite breakfast spots.. The broth is hot, fresh, clear and mouth-watering and the wantans are made fresh daily..add your preferred noodle whether kueh tiaw, yellow egg noodle, mee hoon..add a little chilli sauce... You will definitely have a complete and refreshing breakfast.. Less the calories and fat.....

The lunch selection is also very very nice, with great Malay dishes like tempoyak goreng (seasonal), ulam-ulaman, ayam masak merah, sayur masak lemak and other tasty treats for the taste buds....come and try, its open on weekdays and saturdays...tutup on Sundays...hehehheheheh......
